Links with clinical desktops

The unique DAVE™ software links effectively with existing clinical record systems enabling the data to be read from, and recorded back into, the core GP system.

At this stage, DAVE is linked with two GP systems; Best Practice and Locum. DAVE has been designed so that any system that wishes to can develop a link to it, and it is envisaged that future developments will incorporate links to more clinical record systems used in Australia.

Best Practice Software

Best Practice Software supplies a range of products designed for use in medical practices including Best Practice Clinical, Best Practice Management and Top Pocket.

“The Pharmaceutical Alliance has worked collaboratively with Best Practice throughout the development of the diabetes decision support tool. The software tool is designed to link into multiple clinical systems and works effectively alongside Best Practice software.
The tool is well designed and links smoothly with the GP’s usual working habits. Best Practice supports the installation of the diabetes tool and our software behaves just as it does normally. We don’t foresee any problems in using the two systems together and there is no danger of the software adversely affecting a GP’s Best Practice system or data.
The diabetes tool is of real value in clinical practice and Best Practice supports The Pharmaceutical Alliance’s model of developing valued software with a clinical focus that complements our system.”

Frank Pyefinch, Chief Executive Officer of Best Practice Software Pty. Ltd.

Locum Software

Developed by Global Health, Locum is a clinical software application used by GPs, specialists and community health providers for patient management.

Global Health was approached by The Pharmaceutical Alliance in 2007 to develop the diabetes Electronic Decisions Support System (EDSS). A close working relationship quickly emerged based on the design supplied by The Alliance, with the shared objectives of ensuring the EDSS worked cohesively with other clinical systems and that the GP-Patient workflow remained easy and unaffected.
The EDSS software integrates smoothly with the GP’s clinical record system – including our own system, Locum – and throughout the development process, particular care has been taken to ensure that the core clinical system retains its integrity. The patient’s data is shared between the two systems, with any data recorded using the EDSS being stored back into Locum.
The response from our users has been very encouraging. This ability to provide our practices with non-intrusive, high-quality and effective decision support that works seamlessly with their normal clinical systems is an exciting development for our customers. Global Health fully supports this collaborative ‘best-of-breed’ approach of connecting with clinically-focused value-add tools from quality research organisations that complement existing clinical systems to support the provision of better quality care for patients.”
Mathew Cherian, Managing Director, Global Health (Locum)
